Job Description:

Global leader in the power industry in Northern New Jersey is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team. Must have coal fired power plant experience.  

Purpose:

·      To provide engineering related design, analysis, and studies for domestic or international projects.

·      Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.

·      Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global business unit.

Principal Duties & Accountabilities:

·      Plan, design, develop, coordinate and review complex electrical engineering work, including electrical power systems and/or control design within large power generation plant and high voltage switchyard.

·      Familiar with all Electrical Engineering Standards and Procedures (IEEE/ANSI, IEC, NEMA, NEC, etc.) and their application to projects.

·      Prepare a set of instructions for fabrication of engineered equipment and physical installation and connection of this equipment. Instructions are time tested and appear in the form of drawings, specifications, standards, procedures, and lists.

·      Create and/or check one-line drawings, three line drawings and other protection and control schematic and wiring drawings.

·      Perform systems calculations such as cable, conduit and electrical equipment sizing, Short circuit & Primary Fuse ratings and power system relay protection set point calculations.

·      Produce schematics for LV and HV motors and motor operated valves.

·      Create and/or check equipment/system specifications and bill of material lists to implement engineering design and modifications.

·      Review and comment on vendor documents and manufacturer drawings for cables, LV and HV switchgear, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), AC/DC electrical distribution panels, relay panels, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and for their conformance with specifications.

·      Provide technical support to construction group and startup group by answering any design or engineering questions that may arise during execution phase of the project.

·      Supervises the engineering work of assigned Drafters, Designers, and subordinate Engineers. This includes work assignments, scheduling and review.

·      Develops alternate methods, techniques or design concepts as required to resolve unique design problems.

·      Coordinates with personnel in electrical and other disciplines (civil/structural, mechanical, control, etc), project managers and client personnel to review designs and resolve areas of concern.

·      Coordinate items include space control, schedule and layout optimization. Evaluates manufacturer's or contractor's proposals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with Electrical Engineering guidelines.

·      Prepares assigned reports, studies or analysis for project.

·      Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements
