Job Description:

Our client, a world leader in the field of medical diagnostics, has a select opening in their Mechanical Engineering department for a Senior Mechanical Product Engineer.  This position is based out of a suburb 30 miles north of New York City and full and comprehensive relocation package is included as well as an excellent benefits package and a competitive salary.  Currently we have a select opening for a SSA, a Software Systems Analyst.

Medical laboratory Software Systems Analyst:

Provide software requirements analysis functional expertise as pertaining to automated clinical/medical laboratory systems. Develop and impart Business Domain Knowledge and related skills to Software Requirement Engineers, to raise the capabilities of the Software Requirement Engineering functional discipline. Provide leadership and guidance to less senior members of the functional staff. Work with the Functional Manager to assess the skills of the team and effectively allocate resources, to efficiently complete project tasks and activities. Ensure quality of the functional deliverables, including User Requirements and Software Specification documents. Serve as a liaison between Software Development and external as well as internal customers such as Service and Support, Marketing, Reagent Manufacturing, etc.,  to capture customer intent, develop these into software requirements, and transpose them into software specifications. Verify that all Requirement Engineering activities are conducted in compliance with Requirements Multi-Site Work Instructions, ISO9000 standards, and FDA regulations. This role may also assume management responsibilities for a team of 3 to 6 Software Requirement Engineers.

Leadership:

Work with project manager to identify project objectives, work scope and priorities. Provide input during the planning and scheduling of software requirement tasks. Provide guidance and technical instruction to assigned Requirement Engineers in area of expertise. Review all work products for accuracy, completeness and consistency. Ensure compliance to all internal processes and regulatory guidelines.

Engineering Decisions:

Analyze customer business needs to fully understand intent, resolve all relevant technical issues, document and establish the solutions as software requirements. In collaboration with Software Development team, elaborate medical device User Interfaces and Software Specifications. Strong problem solving skills required.

Collaboration (internal/External):

In the context of projects, initiate and maintain interaction with other departments and functions to provide Requirement Engineering expertise and facilitate communication among the stakeholders.

Experience with software-centric electromechanical systems is required. Minimum of 5 to 10 years Software Requirement experience, with demonstrated Requirements Analysis skills. Working knowledge of Medical Laboratory Diagnostic Business domain, Requirements Engineering technology, and Requirements Management tools, are highly desirable.  Knowledge of FDA software development process guidelines, especially those pertaining to software requirements and specifications development, is required.  Experience with Automated Immunoassay or Clinical Chemistry Laboratory Systems is a plus.
