Job Description:

Major travel and entertainment services firm is currently seeking a Data Warehouse Engineer for their Norwalk, CT office.

The Senior Data Warehouse developer responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of the technical components in an enterprise wide Business Intelligence System. Coding of ETL Data Migration and Integration modules utilizing Informatica’s PowerCenter and PowerCenter RT. Development of PL/SQL, UNIX Shell script, and other technical components in support of Priceline’s Corporate Information Systems. Responsible for working with project managers, business analysts, and technical team members to ensure data integrity from operational systems to the Data Warehouse. Will function in a technical project lead capacity on certain projects, leading small technical teams and coordinating with other parts of IT and the CIS business organization to create detailed and thorough implementation plans, which will address the business needs and cause minimal interruption to daily business activities. Prepare and implement data verification and testing methods for Staging, Data Warehouse and Data Marts. Provide input and recommendations on technical issues and review and participate in ETL, application, and tool designs, and hardware and software selections. Additional duties will include troubleshooting and performance tuning (Informatica and Oracle DB), production support of ETL batch processes, participation in the development of best practice methodologies, creation of technical documentation, and participating in and conducting code walk-throughs of ETL and BI work units to provide feedback that will ensure code is written efficiently, meets design specifications, and is of high quality.

Required Skills: Experience in Data Warehousing Full Project Lifecycles, especially tasks within the ETL phase. Minimum of 5 years experience working with Oracle database technologies to implement data warehousing solutions. Demonstrated strong teamwork skills leading small technical teams. Understanding of dimensional schema designs and experience with RDBMS based development tools such as ERWIN or Designer 2000. Development experience in an Oracle data warehouse using Informatica, PL/SQL and design experience with star schemas and other data warehouse constructs. Very Strong Informatica PowerMart/PowerCenter development. This position will involve heavy ETL development using the Informatica toolset and requires solid knowledge of Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Decision Support Systems. Must have strong SQL coding experience, including PL/SQL development, and UNIX shell or other scripting(SED, AWK, PERL). Dimensional Modeling design and implementation. Oracle SQL tuning. Brio/Hyperion/Microstrategy, or other DSS tool development (Microstrategy, Business Objects, Essbase, etc..) is also a plus.

Requirements: BS COmputer Science or equivalent experience. Candidate must be able to hit the ground running on ETL design and development items. This person must be flexible and able to respond to constantly changing project priorities in addition to being able to multi-task well. Good analytical and problem solving skills are essential. This individual will be able to facilitate resolution of technical issues and have the ability to act as a change agent to foster and promote innovative solutions, and to positively influence others with strong results orientation.
