Job Description:

Our client is a world leader in the field of Medical Instrumentation and Diagnostics and is located north of New York City.  Their products have the broadest range of any diagnostic company and they have both name recognition and a reputation for excellence.  Currently they have several select opening for Senior Software Validation/Verification Testers. 

Senior Software Test Engineer is for a significant, large Medical Diagnostic Instrument (Real-Time and Workstation code, UNIX platform. Windows or C++ Platform.)

He/She must determine methodology for testing of modules and/or sub-systems and exercise independent judgment to adapt and modify standard testing techniques.  This includes the development of software test procedure and test plans (manual or automated) and he/she must execute test cases, and document results and participate, where appropriate, as a reviewer in specification and design reviews.

He/She will be involved in collaboration (Internal/External):

• Present summaries and reviews of testing status at project review meetings and recommend alternatives to resolve issues. 
• Actively participate on multi-functional product teams. 
• Initiate and maintain interaction with other departments to facilitate the transfer of information.
• Communicate to the Core Team and SW Element Team leaders when resource allocations or priority issues develop. 

Department Functional Responsibility:

• Help introduce new methods, tools and processes within department function.
• Remain current in area of expertise and provide functional expertise across projects.
• Provide guidance and support with Function specific processes.

Leadership:

• Provide technical guidance and instruct lower level technical personnel in area of expertise. 
• Recommend innovations and improved methods, tools and processes. 
• May lead technical teams of limited scope as Group Leader within a project matrix. Identify workarounds for allocating resources during bottlenecks.

Skills:

He/She must have completed at least one project in which conducted Verification of over 500,000 lines of code and must have a working knowledge of at least one defect tracking system.  The ideal candidate will also have knowledge of Computer Assisted Software Testing techniques and programs (i.e., Winrunner or SQARobot) and knowledge of FDA guidelines for the overall software development process and especially system and software.

• Familiarity with quality processes (ISO 9000, FDA Guidelines for Medical Devices, Software

• Knowledge of software testing methodologies   
• Laboratory Diagnostic Background couples with Software Engineer Background:
• Knowledge of Lab Automation, Clinical Chemistry and Immunodiagnostics Systems a plus.
