Our client is a world leader in the field of medical diagnostics and is located 30 miles north of New York City in Westchester County, New York. They have a current opening for a Staff Product Engineer with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. An advanced degree would be preferred, and 8+ years of experience in mechanical product development and engineering with an emphasis on complex electromechanical medical devices. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Experience with an emphasis on complex electromechanical medical devices.
- Experience with precision drive mechanisms, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, sensor technologies, electronics packaging, and injection molding part design. This is the most desirable experience.
- Ability to apply engineering principals and theory to develop safe, innovative and robust medical products.
- Knowledge of thermal, structural analysis and design a plus. Some experience with FEA tools to perform engineering analysis in the early design phase of projects
- Proficiency with leading MCAD software is a must. SolidWorks is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of ASME Y 14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and drawing standards.
- Experience with performing tolerance analysis on basic assemblies
- Working knowledge of product safety requirements from regulatory agencies such as UL, IEC, ISO, and the FDA
- Ability to effectively deliver a product within schedule and budget
- Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is considered a plus
This Engineer will act as lead engineer on medical devices, robotics and process automation and create and develop precision electro-mechanical mechanisms, robotic manipulators components and assemblies to meet product design specifications and regulatory requirements. This engineer will perform engineering analysis and establish test plans to demonstrate product designs meet performance and safety requirements. The Product Engineer will work with cross functional team members and outside partners to deliver new products to market within the defined project schedule and budget. He/she will supervise other engineering and technical personnel and carry out assembly and troubleshooting activities. He/she will create and manage development tasks for assigned project(s), including project schedule, BOM’s and product costs target as well as identify project risks and potential product design issues and recommend design solutions and determine appropriate process and materials for prototype and production work. He/she will work with vendors to fabricate prototype and production parts and tooling and write protocols and reports to support product testing and comply with internal corporate Design Control Process for assigned project(s) and complete engineering documentation required to support project(s). This engineer performs advanced areas of work for the professional field and applies advanced skills to resolve problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently.
