Job Description:


Benefits and Compensation Manager with overall accountability for the Bank’s US H&W, Retirement and Compensation Plans. Manager will obtain cost effective, qualitative benefit structures and continually monitor environment for options and cost savings. Development and mentoring of subordinate staff (3) is critical to the success of the team and a key component of principal job duties.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits (Health & Welfare, Retirement, Other):
• Manage the design, implementation, administration and analysis of employee benefits programs including health and welfare plans, 401k plan, and defined benefit pension plan
• Analyze, evaluate and recommend services, coverage, and options available through insurance brokers and investment companies to determine programs that best fit the Bank’s benefit strategy
• Negotiate and contract, in conjunction with Banks benefit consultants, benefit plan providers, vendors, auditors and consultants for services, premiums and plan administration
• Manage benefit compliance initiatives to meet Federal and State requirements
• Analyze benefits experience for cost control and risk assessment factors
• Develop and implement benefit communication plans
• Prepare and present benefit recommendations to the Retirement & Benefits Committee and Sr. Management
• Manage retiree and legacy benefit plans
• Other projects as identified

Compensation:
• Review, monitor and enhance Bank compensation programs (total cash & NQDC)
• Administration of compensation programs for exempt and non-exempt populations
• Conduct job analysis to determine appropriate exemption status and salary levels
• Manage and oversee deferred compensation plans
• Manage staff participation in compensation surveys within industry and apply research on geographical differences to firm-wide compensation structure
• Manage annual performance management and merit process
• Prepare and present compensation recommendations to HR and Executive Management
• Other projects as identified

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS OR EXPERIENCE:
• BA/BS +10 year’s relevant experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members
• Ability to effectively communicate and engage with all levels of leadership and staff
• Ability to quickly comprehend Bank’s professional and business goals
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop positive and productive working relationships within the HR team, management staff and employees in multiple locations
• Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication, strong business focus, critical thinking, process orientation and problem solving abilities
• Ability to design, implement and interpret metrics for measuring program effectiveness
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
